Hi, I'm Laura from Inventors & Makers. Our self-led virtual workshops and clubs are designed to make STEM accessible for you to do from school, nursery or home.

We do all the hard work of planning and teaching STEM for you. We even use resources and equipment you'll probably already have. So all you need to do is get yourself set up and press play on our videos.

Invention & Design Workshop for KS2

This STEM Workshop is perfect to teach your KS2 pupils about invention and design with hands-on design activities.

We start by learning about what inventions are and how they solve problems. We then look at how some famous and not so famous inventors solved problems with their inventions and for our practical activity we work through the design thinking process to come up with our own brand new inventions.

What you get:

Interactive Video Workshop with easy to follow instructions to pause and do activities, meaning all the planning and teaching is done for you.
Practical Activities that emphasise problem solving, collaboration and creative thinking along with design concepts and skills.
Materials List with simple resources like A3 paper and post-it notes.
Teacher Information Sheet telling you what we cover, the D&T National Curriculum Links and some follow up ideas to extend the learning.
Parent Information Sheet to include parents in their children's learning.
Display Materials to take photos and get something up on your wall to celebrate the learning.

The workshop will take around 60-90 minutes in total, though it can be made to last longer.

For £99* you can use the workshop with as many KS2 classes as you like for a whole school term on your own schedule.

Please be aware that for this workshop you will need to source some simple materials in advance such as A3 paper and post-it notes. We estimate the total materials costs for running this workshop with one class of 30 pupils would be up to £10 with each additional class costing less than this.
