Hi, I'm Laura from Inventors & Makers. Our self-led virtual workshops and clubs are designed to make STEM accessible for you to do from school, nursery or home.

We do all the hard work of planning and teaching STEM for you. We even use resources and equipment you'll probably already have. So all you need to do is get yourself set up and press play on our videos.

Super Structures Workshop for KS1

This workshop focuses on structures as we learn about how engineers have solved problems to make towers taller and bridges longer over time.

Children take part in a hands-on tower building challenge and an extended bridge building challenge as they think like engineers to save the day for characters in well-known story.

What you get:

Interactive Video Workshop with easy to follow instructions to pause and do activities, meaning all the planning and teaching is done for you.
Practical Activities that emphasise problem solving, collaboration and creative thinking along with engineering concepts and skills.
Materials List with simple resources like paper straws, paper cups and craft sticks.
Teacher Information Sheet telling you what we cover, the National Curriculum Links and some follow up ideas to extend the learning.
Parent Information Sheet to include parents in their children's learning.
Display Printables and Certificates to remember and celebrate the learning.

The workshop will take around 60-90 minutes in total, though it can be made to last longer.

For £99* you can use the workshop with as many KS1 classes as you like for a whole school term on your own schedule.

Please be aware that for this workshop you will need to source some simple materials in advance such as craft sticks, straws, paper cups and tapes. We estimate the total materials costs for running this workshop with one class of 30 pupils would be £10-£15 with each additional class costing less than this.
