Hi, I'm Laura from Inventors & Makers. Our self-led virtual workshops and clubs are designed to make STEM accessible for you to do from school, nursery or home.

We do all the hard work of planning and teaching STEM for you. We even use resources and equipment you'll probably already have. So all you need to do is get yourself set up and press play on our videos.

In this space-themed workshop, we discover how engineering has taken us into space, landed us safely on the Moon and helped us explore beyond our solar system.

We learn about the challenges engineers have overcome and take part in two engineering challenges of our own, including building rovers using motors and circuits to explore a planet's surface.

Get This Self-Led Workshop

There are two versions of this workshop that you can use with LKS2 or UKS2 with Y5-6 applying additional critical thinking skills to their design and engineering challenge.

The workshop will take around 90 minutes in total.

For just £99* you can use the workshop with as many classes as you like for one school term on your own schedule.

Please be aware that for this workshop you will need to purchase in advance 3V coin cell batteries and vibrating motors (1 of each per group of 3 pupils) as well as some other simple materials such as paper cups, string and tape. The motors cost approximately £9 for ten and can be reused between classes. We estimate the total materials costs for running this workshop with one class of 30 pupils would be around £20 with each additional class costing £4.
